Who makes this
About the shop
Little eyes, big discoveries. Simple black-and-white creatures on cream cotton, printed for you when you order.
What Hoot & Lune is
A small online shop for tees in black and white. Babies see strong contrast long before they see colour, so every design is drawn the way a baby's eyes find things first: a bold ladybug, a bee, a butterfly, a flower, a sprout, a snail, each in its own egg. They're for the grown-ups doing the carrying, and for anyone who likes a clean, friendly print.
Every shirt is printed to order by Printify's partner presses on soft cotton, in the size and colour you pick. Nothing is stocked. Your shirt is made after you order it and shipped with tracking to your door in the US.
Why print to order
Holding stock means guessing which design will sell, in which size, in which colour. Guess wrong and the leftovers are landfill. Printing to order removes the guess: nothing exists until someone wants it, so every piece made is a piece someone chose.
The trade is time. A shirt takes 2–5 business days on the press before it ships, rather than going out the same afternoon. That's the whole cost of not making things nobody asked for.
How a design becomes a shirt
- Drawn. Each artwork starts as an original drawing in solid black and white, finished at print resolution so the shapes stay crisp at full size on the shirt.
- Placed. Position, scale and rotation are set by hand for every design, not dropped into a template. The print spec on each product page shows the exact print area in pixels and the fabric it lands on, so you can see what you're buying.
- Ordered. Nothing is printed yet. When you pick a design, colour and size, your order goes to the partner press that makes that shirt.
- Pressed. The press prints the design straight onto the garment, cures the ink, then packs it. That's the 2–5 business days.
- Posted. It ships with a tracking number, emailed to you the moment it leaves the press. Delivery times and costs are on the shipping page.
What the shirts are made of
Tees are combed ring-spun cotton: the fibres are combed to remove the short, scratchy ones, then spun tight, which gives a softer, smoother shirt than basic carded cotton. Designs are printed by direct-to-garment (DTG) or direct-to-film (DTF), depending on the press, so the ink sits in or on the fabric rather than on a stiff transfer patch. Each product page lists its sizes and a size guide.
To keep a print bright, machine wash cold, tumble dry low, use non-chlorine bleach only and skip the dry cleaner. If a shirt arrives misprinted or damaged, it's replaced or refunded under the 30-day returns policy.
